Announcement of YPAM 2022 Unique Venue Development (Pilot Program)

YPAM has received applications from seven artists and companies for its new Unique Venue Development (Pilot Program), which was launched this year.

After deliberations by the YPAM Secretariat and outside experts based on the selection criteria of (1) attractiveness of the venue, (2) feasibility, (3) prospects for continued cooperation with the venue's management, we have decided to support the following two Fringe performance projects.

Company Name : Amareya Theatre & Guests
Project Title : «2nd floor anatomies» Japan premier of Katarzyna Pastuszak & Natalia Chylińska’s work (12.4 & 5) + Nitehi special events (12.10-12)
Venue : Nitehi works Sueyoshi-cho (1, 21-9, Sueyoshi-cho, Naka-ku,Yokohama )

Company Name : SC∀L∃R
Project Title : 齢 instar 03
Venue : Jochiji Temple ( 1402, Yamanouchi, Kamakura )

In addition to the fact that Nitehi works Sueyoshi-cho and Jochiji Temple had never been used as venues for past YPAM Fringe performances and were newly discovered as performance venues this year, both buildings were evaluated for their potential to be used as attractive spaces for presenting performance works through the collaborative relationship between the venue managers and artists, even though neither was designed as a theater.

The performance project of Amareya Theatre & Guests and SC∀L∃R will be presented during YPAM in December 2022 as a YPAM Fringe 2022 participating performance. (Details of the performance will also be available on the YPAM website in early October.)
