Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY) is not only a residency space where artists from Japan and abroad engage in creative activities, but also a hub for local community exchange, offering workshops and experimental tryouts. In August of this year, a new studio was opened on the first floor, in addition to the existing third-floor studio at DaBY in Yokohama, enabling us to welcome guests in two studios.
This program presents showings of eight works co-produced by DaBY and the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater. The lineup features a wide spectrum of physical expression—from Butoh to Hip Hop—as well as works that can be enjoyed by parents and children alike. These pieces were created as part of “Wings: International Dance Project by Dance Base Yokohama for Emerging Creators” and “Constellation: Connecting Worlds through the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater Dance Project,” both supported by the Japan Creator Support Fund, with the aim of reaching international audiences.
