Report from the Gwangju Biennale Opening and Recent Trips to Southeast Asia

YPAM Senior Program Officer Tomoyuki Arai, who has been working as a dramaturg with Singaporean visual artist Ho Tzu Nyen since 2019, attended the opening of the 16th Gwangju Biennale, where Ho serves as Artistic Director. He will share his experience of the Biennale’s opening, which took place just a few days ago, from 4 to 6 September.

Arai will also talk about his recent travels in Southeast Asia, including a May trip to six cities across three Indonesian islands—Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Makassar and Denpasar—as well as his participation in ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts) in Singapore and KL Festival in Kuala Lumpur. If time allows, he will also share his experience at the Asian Playwrights Meeting in Yogyakarta and the Djakarta International Theater Platform in Jakarta this July and August.

Report form the IETM Oulu Plenary Meeting

This June, YPAM Programme Officer Ryo Tanaka, who oversees YPAM Exchange, attended the IETM Oulu Plenary Meeting 2026. Join this informal sharing session to hear about the meeting and what Tanaka learned there. Anyone interested in international performing arts networks and activities is welcome.
