    Symposium
    12:30 – 14:00

Earlier this fiscal year, The Japan Arts Council launched the “Creator Support Fund” to support the international activities of Japanese creators and artists over the next several years. Several recipient organizations of this funding will give presentations on their ongoing projects at YPAM Exchange. Every year, YPAM is attended by professionals involved in international festivals in Japan and abroad, which could be the potential stages for the funded projects in the future. This year in particular, we have invited directors and curators newly appointed during and after the pandemic to hold a two-part symposium addressing major topics facing Asia/Oceania and Europe. A related symposium will also be held on December 5.

    Roundtable
    16:00 – 16:40

Fairness is important, but for whom? Who gets to decide what's fair, and how are these decisions made? This roundtable discussion, hosted by Norway-based Japanese dance artist Yohei Hamada and moderated by Norway-based independent creative producer Alexandros Vrettos, will explore the concept of fairness in the context of international, intercultural, and interdisciplinary creative work. Having faced challenges in creating fair working conditions within his own projects, Hamada invites others to join him in a nuanced conversation on fairness across cultural, national, and personal boundaries.
